He was pronounced dead at the scene by Rains County Justice of the Peace Jenkins Franklin. An autopsy was ordered.

Voter Registration Deadline Approaching
This next Monday, October 5th, is the Voter Registration Deadline. This is the last day you have to register to vote to ensure you can vote in the November 3rd elections. There are numerous different websites that you can check your status on or you can call the local voter administration office at 903-454-5467.
Additionally, some voters may realize that they are put into a suspense status when they check. This does not mean you cannot vote. What the suspense status means is that they need you to fill out a form to verify your address before you can vote. This will not prevent you from voting.
Regarding the recent news of the DPS Backlog, Hunt County was hit with around 3000 total VR Applications from DPS all at once, so if you recently checked that box at the DPS when getting, or updating, your license you may want to call and verify.

Candidate forum set for Saturday, Oct. 10
Candidates for the upcoming November City of West Tawakoni election will be featured at a Town Hall meeting and forum on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9:30 am.
To be held in the Lake Tawakoni Regional Chamber of Commerce Building, it will begin with a “mix and mingle” for 30 minutes with the forum set to begin at 10 am. and end at 12 noon.
The forum will begin at 10 am and will be moderated by Judge Clay Rankin. Candidates invited to attend are James Chemp, Dan Benson, Ramsey Lindsey, James Hill, Chris Burkett and Cecilia Irvan.
Following the forum, there will be another 30 minute “mix and mingle” and the chamber doors will be closed at 12:30 pm.

Name that Christmas parade theme
Help choose this year’s Christmas parade theme.
The Lake Tawakoni Regional Chamber asks the community to help choose this year’s Christmas parade theme.
The holiday season may still be a few months away, but chamber leaders are already making plans for this year’s Christmas celebration—and the community is being invited to help decide the theme. The chamber recently posted a community poll asking residents to choose from several creative Christmas themes. The goal is to give local residents an opportunity to have a voice in how this year’s holiday celebration will look and feel.
The themes currently featured in the Chamber’s poll include:
Christmas at the Movies: “Bring your favorite holiday movie to life!”
This theme would allow participants to decorate or create displays inspired by their favorite Christmas movies, bringing familiar holiday stories and characters to life throughout the community.
Christmas in Toyland: Participants could create displays centered around toys and childhood favorites. The Chamber notes that entries could feature specific toys, games, dolls, trains and more, offering plenty of room for creativity.
Stars, Stripes and Christmas Lights: This patriotic Christmas theme would combine holiday decorations with American pride as the nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
A Christmas Time Machine: This theme would take residents through Christmas throughout time, offering an opportunity to recreate Christmas traditions, decorations and styles from different eras.
Magical Christmas: For those who love fantasy and imagination, this theme would open the door to magicians, enchanted forests, fairies, unicorns, dragons and wizards. The theme could transform holiday displays into magical Christmas scenes filled with imagination and creativity.
On the chamber’s Facebook page, it asks for vote on their desired theme name.
The Christmas event is another opportunity for the Lake Tawakoni area to come together and celebrate the holiday season.

Quality, Tested CBD – and Why It Matters
CBD is increasingly popular, with hundreds of products designed to provide everything from better sleep to relief and recovery to increased focus. Once you’ve figured out which CBD formula is right for you, it’s important to be able to trust that what’s in the bottle or jar matches what’s on the label.
This is where third-party testing comes in. Independent labs test CBD products, verifying the cannabinoid content matches what’s on the label and screening for the presence of heavy metals, pesticides, and other contaminants.
Unlike some companies that cut corners, CBDistillery ensures that every single batch of their CBD products are tested by an accredited lab. And these test results are posted on their website, so you can see them before you place your order.
CBDistillery is so sure you’ll like their products, they’re offering a special deal: save 50% on orders of $75 or more with code NEWS50!
